Year group eligibility

Four entry points, one scholarship.

The scholarship is open to applicants joining at Years 6 through 9. Each entry point has its own academic context and the assessment is calibrated to the specific year group.

Not available at IGCSE

Students applying for Year 10 or Year 11 are not eligible. The scholarship is an entry award for secondary, not a mid-course award.

  1. Year 6

Age 10-11 · End of Primary

    EnglishMathematicsScience

The transition from primary to secondary is a natural assessment point. The school looks for consistent performance across core subjects and evidence of intellectual curiosity. Students are assessed on English, mathematics, and science at the appropriate primary level.

  2. Year 7

    Age 11-12 · Early Secondary

    EnglishMathematicsScience

Early secondary entry. The school looks for strong academic foundations alongside the self-motivation to handle a more demanding curriculum structure. Applicants are assessed on their subject knowledge and their readiness to engage with secondary-level material.

  3. Year 8

    Age 12-13 · Mid Secondary

    EnglishMathematicsScience

Mid-secondary entry. Students at this stage are assessed on their ability to work independently, think critically, and engage with complex material across disciplines. Academic records carry significant weight alongside the on-campus assessment.

  4. Year 9

    Age 13-14 · Pre-IGCSE

    EnglishMathematicsScience

The final scholarship entry point, one year ahead of the IGCSE pathway. Applicants are assessed on their academic record and their readiness to handle examination-level subject demands. This is the most competitive entry point.

What the school looks for

Academic ability and the potential to perform.

Selection is based on core subject performance, school records, and the results of the on-campus assessment at Aspire. All four components matter.

There are no interviews. The scholarship decision is made purely on academic evidence.

Academic record

Original report cards from the previous two school years, stamped and authenticated by the issuing school.

Core subject performance

Strong results in English, mathematics, and science. These carry the most weight in both the records review and the on-campus assessment.

On-campus assessment

An age-appropriate assessment taken at Aspire, calibrated to the specific year group being entered.

Behaviour reference

A reference letter from the applicant's current school, on official letterhead, signed by the principal or head of year.
